My Poetry
Soul Mates
By Dennis Adair
Soul mates are hard to find
Their lives so seldom cross
If by chance the two should meet
A love that fades is tragic loss

So we must try with all our might
To keep this love light glowing
For if the light should flicker dim
Our souls would stop their growing
Alone
By Dennis Adair

Being alone doesn't always mean I'm
lonely
Sometimes I like being by myself
Just listening to Frank or Tony sing
And thinking about old lovers
But lately, I think mostly of you
The Mirror Into My Soul
By Dennis Adair

As the wind slowly dies and the lake has the eerie
look of a mirror and the boat is leisurely drifting
I am thinking of my life till now,
how it has been not unlike the lake today,
the wind, although unkind at times
is necessary to fill the sails and move the vessel
along to a distant destination,
it has taken me to places unknown
but essential for my life to grow and be fulfilled
Now as I gaze into the depths of the water,
made clear by the dying of the wind
I become conscious that
I am looking at the mirror into my soul,
unaffected by turmoil,,,,,,,, peaceful,,,
Growing old is not such a bad thing after all
Memories
By Dennis Adair

The presence of you is still lingering
as I lay here in the dark
Your perfume is in the air I breathe
and the smell is sweet
I hold the pillow you slept on near to me and
I remember what it feels like to touch and
hold you close to me once more
I have only to wait for your return and
time seems to pass so slowly
oh if only time would be kind and
pass as slowly when you are with me,
but it finds me foolish and rushes by
The days are filled with thoughts of you and
I long to have you lay your head on my
chest, to feel your touch again.
I'm waiting patiently,,
with my cherished memories

Illusions
By Dennis Adair

Illusions are dangerous people
They always tell you what you want to hear
And they make promises they don’t intend to keep
Just when you think you know all
there is to know about them
They change,,,, and then?,,,, they disappear

Now And Then
By Dennis Adair

Now and then you cross my mind
Its pleasant when you do
Now and then you cross my mind
Its nice to think of you
There Are Only Four Questions Of Value In Life.
What Is Sacred?
Of What Is The Spirit Made?
What Is Worth Living For?
And What Is Worth Dying For
?
The Answer To Each Is The Same:
Only Love
